Leah and I got up early and walked at Ueno Park. There is a bronze statue of a man and his dog. The legendary samurai Saigo Takamori, one of the most influential samurai in all of Japan. Dubbed the ‘last true samurai’, he was the inspiration behind the Hollywood film ‘The Last Samurai’. In addition to leading Japanese fighters during the 1877 Satsuma Rebellion, he also wrote poetry under the name Saigo Nanshu. He is shown with a dog because he loved dogs. Ueno Park also has a beautiful reflection pool.
These are some fun pictures I took as we crossed the train tracks near Ueno station
We found some cute people and things on our way. But where?
The girls were a good sports as I made us all go eat at a Video Game cafe.
Here are some pictures of the cool cafe and the food we ate.
After filling up on cute food, we played retro video cabinet games and shopped retro video games in a section of Tokyo called Akihabara. We also found a ton gachapon (capsule toy vending machines. Bonus question: What console are the yellow cartridge games for?
After gaming and shopping it was time for some amazing Sushi!
It was yummy!
More posts coming soon.
